In Aberfeldy, a small market town, we see the Black Watch Monument before visiting the Crannog Visitors Centre at Loch Tay. Later we drive to Pitlochry, home to the Edradour Distillery, the smallest in Scotland. Returning to Edinburgh, we take in Dunkeld, Perthshire’s ancient capital and Loch Leven, the largest loch in the Scottish Lowlands. Stay three nights at The Place. (D)

Today is devoted to Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital. We explore this fascinating city with its medieval and Georgian architecture and its imposing castle. Enjoy free time this afternoon before we meet up for the Edinburgh Tattoo, the highlight of our trip. The event has become a celebration of music and dance and attracts performers from all over the world. (B)

After a morning at leisure, we travel to the Falkirk Wheel, the world’s only rotating boat lift. Next we visit the magnificent ruins of Linlithgow Palace and discover the history of this royal palace. This evening we enjoy a final dinner together. (B, D)

Today we learn of the turbulent history, heritage and culture of the Scottish Borders, renowned for its untouched natural beauty, picturesque villages, castles and abbey ruins. We visit Jedburgh Abbey and the Burgh of Selkirk, before returning to Edinburgh where our tour ends. (B)
