Podre il Casale is an organic agricultural farm near Pienza in the southern reaches of the province of Siene. Situated on a hill, this 16th century stone structure offers a stunning view over the Val d’Orcia. Producing good, healthy and sustainable food and respecting the local environment, was the dream of Casale’s founders, Sandra Schmidig and Ulisse Braendli, when in 1991 they decided to leave Zurich and move to Tuscany. We will have a lunch and dinner in their restaurant where they only use their own organic farm produce and a selection of local, natural product. During the cheese tasting, you will be taken through the stages of cheese production from hand-milking to the final product, whilst relaxing on the terrace with a breath-taking panorama of the Val d’Orcia.
